I applied to leasetrader.com and registered for a credit approval on 21st. They charged me on 23rd and denied credit. On the email there was no reason given except a list of vague possible reasons they can deny credit. None of those reasons apply to me, as I have a copy of my credit score and it is excellent. I sent an email asking for an explanation and i received a call on 25th morning from a guy who told me, they denied it because none of my credit cards had a $10,000 limit! I consider this false advertising and totally unethical if not illegal business practice. I knew I did not have a credit card limit of $10000. IF THAT WAS THE CRITERIA, I WOULD NOT HAVE APPLIED. Having said that I disputed that charge with my bank, who while conducting an investigation credited amount back to me. Tomorrow if their investigation shows I still owe the amount , they will debit it to my account. I am fine with that. BUT today (08/9/2012) I received an extortion email from leasetrader.com. They say, they learnt I am disputing a charge and they will dispute it back. In addition they mention I owe them $69.99. No mention why I owe them, since I discontinued membership. I also took only one credit check service from them. I have taken no other service. AND their email has a statement, that they will try to collect money from me, or report so that my credit is spoilt for 10 years! I would like to know how to deal with such type of criminals. Under the nose of the law, how are such organizations conducting their business and also trying to harass and threaten honest people?
