TigerDirect offers a $15 rebate on the purchase of Western Digital Hard Drive for computer. ther regualr price was inflated by $15 to cover the rebate.

The rebate was issued as a "prepaid" card with AmEX.. and incurs a service charge for each month it is not used thus it isn't an actual full value rebate. But the most offensive part of the "scam" is after receiving the card... with a $1 fee deducted from full value by AMEX for it's issuance, I can find no merchant that will accept it even though merchants sate they accept AMEX cards. When attempting ti make a purchase with it, the card account number is not accepted it appears.

Final "insult to injury" noted is unused, after a few months the card value goes to zero. Tghus: the rebate is a scam perpetrated by TigerDirect who can claim it's AMEX.. and AMEX has no desire to assure the card issued is valid.

Finally. when the this limited time rebate offer at TigerDirect expired, TigerDirect lowered the purchase price by $15 rebate to sell the drives at $15 less than with the so-called rebate.

THUS, TigerDirect is practicing a marketing/sales scheme in concert with AMEX... and buyers should be aware... and either waiting for the prices to drop after 'REBATE OFFER" EXPIRES OR JUST SAY "NO."
