I signed up for a Home Warranty (covering appliances, equipment) for my home, but made the mistake of looking them up online. My daughter-in-law, who had had a warranty from the company I thought I was signing with, and it was a good one. Apparently when I contacted the company online, other companies picked up on it and the one I signed with claimed to be the other company and I mailed them a check for the first 6 months plus a sign up fee of $40.00. When I didn't get a packet that they promised, I became suspicious but couldn't phone them. No number reached the correct company. I did get a post card about three months afterwards apolozing for not sending the packet but it was a small message but no information. I didn't try to contact them again and this morning an unkown charge appeared in my bank, and fortunately I caught it before it had posted to my account. The name was FBD Products and my bank couldn't locate a call back number for them and no identification for them. After a lot of calls back and forth they came up with an 877 number and when I phoned it it didn't even identify itself as FBK Products and was an answering device that directed me to push 1 for signing on for being a salesman for them, 2 for joining a team, and stuff like that. I hung up. I fell for the first person who called and said they were the company that my daughter in law had told me, and am guilty of paying them for six months, but when this charge appeared and I googled them, I came up with six pages of Rib Off Alerts, Scam artists and such and they claim to sell ever kind of product and service the world can imagine.

Since they have my checking account information, they put through this charge and if I hadn't seen it on my online banking, it would have cleared my bank as the bank just does that if someone has your bank account and checking numbers. Please be aware of purchasing anything online that you aren't sure is the REAL thing.
