Was desperate for a loan because had to send 21 year old son to a rehabilitation facility for a Heroin addiction. Was called by Dreyfus Lending Bureau of America, 55 Church St., Suite 602, New Haven Ct. 06510. Phone number 877-932-7361. Was told by a representative, Abby Oliver, that I qualified for a loan of $5000.00 with monthly payments of $151.38 over a 3 year agreement. After sending all my employment, banking and personal history to them, I received a contract via fax which I signed and faxed back. I was called back by Ms. Oliver and was told I needed to send a collateral payment of $454.14 to secure the loan, and this was stated in the contract that they may ask for a collateral payment. I sent the money, via Western Union to a Ms. Paula Lamoth in Jamaica. I was told that this was not enough collateral because of my credit history, and that I needed and additional payment of the same amount. I said I couldn't make any more payments and was told by Ms. Oliver her company would make 1/2 of the payment. So I sent $239.99, which included the Western Union Fee, to Paula Lamoth in Jamaica. The following day, I was told that the lender, Paula Lamoth, would not take 1/2 of payment from Dreyfus Lending and that I needed to make the additional 1/2 payment to secure the loan. I sent the money to a Tanya Robinson in Jamaica because Paula Lamoth was out of the office that day. I was then told that I needed to purchase a disability policy from Ms. Lamoths company to protect the loan in case I got hurt. This was an additional payment of $289.00. I refused, and demanded my money back, because there was nothing in the contract about a disability policy having to be taken out, and that they were in breach of contract. They stated to me that since I would not take out the insurance, I voided the contract and would get my money back in 30 business days. I was desperate and stupid, but please stop this company from doing this to any other innocent person. Thanks John
