After accepting a friend request from someone who I thought was one of my past school teacher thinking she had forgotten or deleted her previous facebook account's information I started getting IM's the first beginning on the evening of the 28th (last night) I have copied the repeated greeting and IM conversion for this report and is listed below:

The http address I sent to the person through IM I found by using google and caught the con artist off guard when I replied with the link.

After reading this I immediately went to the real id profile and noticed several odd things and that it didn't match the other profile I had for this person. I also noticed we had several mutual friends and the id had over 100 plus friends. After posting a comment on the duplicated webpage about this NOT been the person we all know and a link to the scam complaint I found here, I reported the id to Facebook as a spam/scam/duplicated webpage of someone I know and deleted the id from both my personal page and the group site I am an administer of and contacted the real person that their account had been duplicated and was been used to con/scam others. I immediately posted links and comments on my webpage and adjusted my setting for each for public viewing. I also posted in the group site I am an administer for a warning this was not the person they were pretending to be and the profile was a duplicate. I contacted EVERYONE I could on the duplicated website by posting on their page and through inbox. There are many other's the person tried to communicate with and they too contacted me or the person through their webpage asking about the message. By the way this all happened on facebook!!

Update: 07/29/2012

spend hours of my time alerting others, doubt the person is indeed real or if so aware someone is using their name to scam.

  • Hi, thanks for posting this! Yesterday, I too received chat messages exactly like this, word for word! Your post here helped me to determine that the person who had accepted my friend request had duplicate accounts, and I then was able to go to her REAL account and saw that multiple other friends had written on her wall alerting her to the scam artist. She says she is handling it. I wrote her a private message on her real account asking her if I should delete that duplicate account or if it would go away on its own, and letting her know I'm still waiting for her to accept my "real" friend request. Good grief! What a lot of wasted time, eh? Thanks again.
