We recently applied for a loan through CanadaLend.com...because our credit wasn't good they weren't able to approve us through a bank so they referred us to a third party lender. After a couple of days, we got an email from Horizon Capital Lending saying that they approved us through a private lender. We were approved for $10,000 on a 72 month payment schedule and a repayment of 8%...They gave us a phone number to get in touch with the, 1-800-600-0244 ... after speaking with them the first time, a representative named "Evelyn Stuart" said we would need to fill out the application, and pick from a list of 4 things in order to get the application
1) get a co-signer with 700 credit or better
2) vehicle as collateral ( 2007 or newer)
3) MAC - 4 payments up front to secure theloan
4) Insurance $800 up front..
So after talking about this, we decided that paying the MAC payment would be the best...it was 4 payments of $180.00 up front totalling $720.00. The representative told me to wire transfer the money, and once they receive it they will issue the loan. So i did just that. I went into money mart and sent a wire transfer of $720.00. After the payment was received we hadn't heard from the at all. I tried calling the # they gave us and it was temporarily disabled. So after a few days, we had sent them a fax telling them to give us a call. Within a few hours they contacted us and gave us a new #. We talked to the rep and asked her what was going on and she said they were having technical difficulties. She had promised that the funds would be in our account by 6pm that same day. At 7pm the funds still werent in our account so i tried calling her and couldnt get a hold of her for 2 days...i finally got a hold of her, and she said the loan was on hold because i had to send more money. She said we needed to send more money to pay for insurance on the loan..so at this point i was already frustrated and getting annoyed. I thought something was wrong for sure. Last time i talked to her was on July 21/12 ... i have been trying to get a hold of her since then and still can't. I left numerous messages for her to call me back when she can and she never did. I am really mad and upset that they did this. Before i decided to apply i read the testimonials and stories of other clients, and i researched and got information...everything seemed so legit. The contract, the phone calls, just everything seemed to make sense. Then different things started to happen and i started putting pieces together..and within a few days i solved the puzzle. I figured out that this was nothing but a scam. I feel really angry and my fault. I shouldn't have applied and been so trusting. I have filed a complaint with the fraud department and i am going to the police as well. I hope noone else goes through this. Everyone be safe, and remember, if you have no pay money up front for any loan, its a scam! You don't borrow money to pay money...Be aware!
