I received a call from a man wo said his name was James Mendez and that he was the president of Winners International, located in Las Vegas, NV. He informed me that the company had been trying to reach me and left several messages that I had won 2.5 million dollars in the Reader's Digest sweepstakes that I had entered. I told him that I did not remember entering that patricular sweepstake, but he said that I had entered via the internet. The phone number from which the call came was 702-765-4362. He repeatdley told that this was a call that was being recorded by everyone from the FBI to the local Chamber of Commerece.
He ask if I was going to be home on Monday that the money was going to be delivered to me in cash and a check; did I want a private delivery or all the media there. I kept telling him that I did not believe him, but he stated that seeing was believing. Then he came to the part where all the taxes had been paid but 5% which I needed to send to the company before they could deliver the money. I said no, that I would pay any taxes upon filing my tax return. I told him I had several calls telling me that I had won or a package to be delivered at which he stated that the company's data base had been broken into and 200,000 names and info had been stolen. He then ask me for a code to know that it was his company that was callling, like the last 4 of my ss#. I gave him a false number. He then stated that he would be faxing me a copy of the check and something else that was to prove to me that he was a legit company and phone call. This was to take place probably on Monday. I will post if anything else happens. This man is very convincing, beware.
