I was sent a check in the mail for a secret shopper assignment, the first assignment was a western union money transfer, after the money was sent, I found out the check was canceled and my bank of course took money from my acccount to cover the amount of the check. I called the person, and was told a refund check was being sent to me all to no avail.

- I'm sorry you did not know to avoid this con, it is one of the oldest ones in the book. Do not give money to anyone who is promising to employ you or give you sweepstakes winnings, etc. In situations like that, the money should be flowing the other way, toward you, if they are legitimate. Is there any way you can get them prosecuted?
