I wanted to purchase an English Bulldog puppy and was a victim of internet fraud. Here is the email conversation:

Determining the route of travel in the transit State of your puppy greatly depends on the available schedules by the airlines and the weather! If a puppy is being shipped during the colder months, the route of choice will be south for connection flights, during the summer we will search routes that are north for connections. 3.)Airlines have temperature requirements - especially important for pug nosed breeds such as pugs, Bostons, pekingese,English Bulldogs etc Normally,nothing is shipped when it's over 85 degrees or below 25 degrees but with the adoption of the well heated modern temperature stabilizer crate, the puppy will be shipped . ...The cost of the Crate has amounted to the sum of $100 The crate that the puppy was delivered in was a dilapidated crate that never had a temperature regulator system.
Also , Before we ship any puppy from one state to another without which no person accompanies the puppy, We usually require a transfer of ownership document from the rightful owner to the owner in the new destination . The transfer of ownership Document has been created it did cost us $150 for this document . please check attached copy in this email.
We also realized that your puppy was also delivered at our agency without a life insurance to insure the life of the pet .We do not carry out the shipping of any pets and animal in general without well certified insurance papers work. By this time, my sister alerted me that this sounded like a scam and I wrote the following:

Hello,
I received the email about the shipping insurance being 850. I was under the assumption that I wouldn't need to pay anything more than the 250. I cannot pay anymore than what i have already payed you. Please get back to me with what we can do.

Then I received this:

okay please i was under the same impression that we will pay only $250 but right now i can borrow $500 from my friend so please if you can come up with $350 then i will send the $500 and when you get the puppy today you will be refunded back $850 then you can send me my $500 and you keep your $350 so please let me know asap

From there, both parties ("her" specified above, and "her husband" who had been talking to me throughout the transaction) ceased contact with me or my sister

My sister then sent her this message:

Your husband has cease contact with me, so I will send this final email. If you are stationed in Arlington, Virginia as you say you are, I have a friend who is willing to go her up for me. He is very familiar with the area, and I trust him with all my life that he can follow through. That way you don't have to put up anymore money than you already have.

But just so there are no misunderstandings or further problems, I would like you to know that this is how things are going to take action.
a. I get my friend to pick up my dog, and we'll be on our way
b. You refund me my money, and no further action will be taken
c. I follow through with the rest of the legal action I have already taken. The local law enforcement will take its action from there.

From there she persistently kept calling for the "dog" , someone to pickup the the dog, or a refund. They never called back, she kept calling and they promised every time to call her back. They never did.
