Met this person on Match.com, being new to internet dating I was ripe for the picking. I had no idea that this was such a problem all over the globe. He said he was from Maryland and had his own business distributing heavy equipment all over the world for building purposes. He sent me roses, chocolate covered strawberries, and a teddy bear. Wrote me poetry which he stole off a romance site, and I am sorry to say had me hook line and sinker. As the weeks went by he sent a contract he wanted me to go over. Said that this deal would be his final and he could join me in retirement and we would travel the world etc. Said he had to travel to Beijing, then a place called Accra, Ghana. I had never heard of it. After he landed in Accra he changed his phone number to a local number from the numbers he had given me when he pretended to live in the US...Said he was having some problems with the paperwork and would I send him 500.00 to finish up the documents so he could hurry and come home to me. He wanted me to send it through Western Union, instead of wiring it to a bank account...found this very odd, but still I decided to go ahead. After the money was sent, it was about two days later and the voice on the phone changed and they tried to make me believe it was the same person with a cold...He had a fake KLM airline office call me to tell me he was detained at the airport and would be held in jail on some customs problems. I was asked to Western Union 4500.00 at that point to two accounts at Zenith Bank in Accra. Lixesh Ent. and Jeko Royal Business Consultancy...both were fraudulent accounts. I knew something was extremely wrong and when I googled his name (David Woods) popped out all over internet as a romance scammer and all fell into place. I am putting this on here to help other women. I don't want anyone else to fall prey to these criminals.
