My name is Norma Givens and i am 52 yrs. of age and never been to jail a day in my life. Always take care of any bills or tickets. Now today i went to court for a minor accident i hade almost a month ago now. When i get to court the judge tells me that i have a warrant out for my arrest from 2009, the ticket was for warming my car up in 2009 and going back in my house to get the kids wasent even 5 mins it took. The thing about it is i didnt even know it was against the law to let your car warm up without being in it. I took care of this ticket back than but because i cant find anything from 3 yrs. ago they are about to put me in jail at 4p.m....Where is the justice i even offered to pay this tickets again right than because i never been to jail and didnt want to go, they wouldt let me pay and demanded without proof i go to jail so that they can receive more money. These people were just on the news for stealing people money at this court so because of these i have become one of these statistics.....
Not even 3 months ago this same court did this to my daughter and son and law. My daughter had no proof of her tickets she paid that they pulled up on her from 4 years ago...When she went to court and they told her she was going to jail they just gave her another court date instead because not only did they have that she never took care of the ticket they also had in the computer that they also never sent her court date out to her. So they told her it was their mistake they had never sent her a court date from 4 yrs. ago but they did send her court day in the mail and she showed up and took care of it so now she is on probation for that same ticket to pay them again because she cant find papers from 4 yrs. ago. My son in law had a ticket the next week and went to court and the same thing happened to him the threaten to take him to jail saying he had to failure to appears to pay his tickets but lucky for him he had proof and threaten them with a lawsuit so they scheduled him a court date for a week later to show proof..Now when he returned with his proof along with reciepts showing he had paid one ticket twice, the judge said to him wait outside that they was dropping the charges for the proof of the tickets he took care of and reimburse the money for the one he paid twice...He waited there for hours in the hall but no one came out and when he tried to talk and ask questions of the staff about what to do to be reimbursed everyone was rude and he got none of his money back. So he left and had to get back to work...This is sad that these people are allowed to take advantage of people that pay taxes and good citizens that have no record or never been in jail or in the system...It really dosent pay to be a good law abiding citizen because these people are allowed to treat you like criminals for minor tickets and allowed to make you pay time after time for the same tickets. People move over years loose things especially paper work and because of those simple reasons it should be against the law to bring minor tickets up from years ago and than threaten them with jail....Simple tickets like warming a cars, traffic tickets and etc......
