My 92 year old mother fell victim to this scam and didn't realize it until I found that Club Billing FBO (SMG) had successfully removed money from her account. I questioned her about it, found information online about how many others had reported being scammed, and called the phone number on the "check" automatically taken from her account. Third Party Billing was at first very rude, but I mentioned the word "fraud" and they asked if I would like to hear a recording of my mother authorizing the purchase of this Medical Benefits package! I listened. It was my mother's voice, however, I could also tell that the questions being asked were "plugged in" after she was recorded. I requested a refund on April 16, 2012, and was told we would have to wait 21 business days for that refund to be processed. I called twice to check on the refund, and was assured it was being processed. Meanwhile my mom recalled that she did get a phone call, but they said her insurance would be cancelled if she did not give them the numbers from the bottom of her check. She had also told the person he was confusing her and she hung up. He promptly called back. Ahh, he now had a confused elderly victim! I called again on May 16, 23, and again May 30 and Third Pary billing claims they are investigating why her refund is taking so long. I asked how to contact Secure Medical Benefits directly, and of course, they cannot be contacted. I am so annoyed and need to think about who to contact to assist in securing this refund. She has received nothing from this company after the "Thank you for your purchase" letter that any 5th grader could have written. I will continue to post if I have success or failure in trying to get my mom's money back.
