On April 17, 2012 my daughter received a phone call around 3:00pm from a lady trying to confirm information for a magazine order. My daughter had called a number about receiving a free gas card 7 months prior (which she never received) and gave my name & birth date because you had to be over 18. On April 17 the woman who called was talking very fast and said she had already signed up for and agreed to pay for the magazines in my name. My daughter tried to explain that we didn't want any magazines and tried to cancel all orders. The woman began to yell and got very rude with her telling her they would get the money by any means necessary. My daughter told me about this and was very upset because she didn't know what to do. I asked what information they asked for and she said they already had it from the gas card phone call. The debit card number they gave was not mine and had already be cancelled because it was lost. She asked where they got the information they had and she was told I had already signed up for this order and was legally bound by voice recording, yet could not play it for her. I received a bill on May 29 for this. I called to try and cancel this, but the woman on the phone was very rude and could barely speak English!! She told me I could not cancel this because the 30 days was up. I told her I have never received any magazines, letters or information about this. I asked how she got her number and she couldn't give me an answer. I told her I never signed up for anything and that my daughter tried to tell the other woman NO several times. She said she had her on voice recording saying yes and there was nothing I could do but pay the money. I told her I wanted to speak to a supervisor but she was just as rude and told me the same thing. I called back and the same woman answered, how ironic. I asked why I had to pay for something I didn't ask for or receive. She told me it was my fault my daughter was a fraud, impersonating me, and that they hadn't sent any magazines because I haven't payed anything. So again, I asked to just cancel since no merchandise had been received. She told me that they pre-pay for magazines they select for you for 3 years. By giving a name, address and birthday I was legally bound to a contract to pay $39.95 for 30 months and no way to cancel at any time. Really? I told her I have ordered magazines before and could always cancel after 3 months. She said "we don't do that, you will just have to pay or go to collections. Your choice." How can they make you pay for something when you have a legitimate dispute. I understand my daughter's mistake, but she was confused. They should make sure the person they are talking to is an adult. These people were laughing and making jokes about my complaint. The supervisor I talked to said "you might just want to go beat your daughter, but you will pay us the money unless you want to file a police report against her for fraud." By the way, my name was not spelled correctly on the letter. I asked about that and they said "we have bad spellers that work here." Then she asked for the correct spelling of my name and I said "NO". Please do not fall victim to this unprofessional, fraudulent company. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Like i said, File them to the police. Let the police investigate it. What the faker are doing is very illegal. They should go to jail or hell. Low life bums. Its really a fraud. Beside if you didn't receive anything then im pretty sure you can win the case. By the way the police investigator are better now they could just call the number that we post up and locate the scammer's location.
