A female with an indian accent rang my house phone telling me that she was a representative from microsoft. She advised me that my computer had been sending error messages back to microsoft and that my system was likely corrupted and would need a technician to look at my computer via remote access. At this point i had made my concerns about this happening and surprise surprise i was reasured that there was nothing to worry about and quote "we mean you no harm". My computer was then connected to their computer and then they asked that a fee of $279 was required and a 3 yr service for ongoing computer repairs was part of the deal. Stupidly i agreed to this deal as i was having pc issues and i gave over my card number. Luckily my bank denied payment and sent my mobile a text message. I rang my bank whilst on the phone still to mercaway rep. My bank told me to hang up and turn off my computer immediately. I now have to have my pc checked over and my credit cards are to be changed. Please dont talk to these people they are nasty...
