I was looking for a deal on a Lenovo W530 Laptop PC, and google shopping showed that Electbase.com had the lowest price for $975. with three day UPS shipping for another $101.77 = $1,076.77 total.

I never heard of Electbase.com - so I searched and all I found was a dozen pages of positive reviews, mostly from "MerchantCircle.com"
http://www.merchantcircle.com/business/electbase.com.415-651-9820 and what turned out to be many fake bloggers."

I figure we also need to add MerchantCircle.com to the list of possible scam sites - since they apparently allow these scumbag scam artists like Electbase to post dozens of fake positive reviews.

(like a fool) I actually went all the way thru the Electbase checkout process and sent them an amazon gift card for $1,076.77 made out to "Sandra S. Jackson"

Here is a pic of the fake checkout cart.

About 30 minutes after I sent Electbase my giftcard, I got a funny feeling about the whole transaction, so I did more intensive google searching - and stumbled on just one true report of the reality of the situation - suggesting Electbase was a scam
http://f.redflagdeals.com/showthread.php?t=1172865

So I immediately contacted Amazon customer support via Live Chat, and explained the situation. and lucky for me, Amazon was able to determine that i was indeed the authentic purchaser of the gift card, and could verify the Amazon gift card had not yet been claimed or redeemed yet by "Sandra S. Jackson" - (the so called sales team agent for Electbase. ) So lucky for me, because I acted fast (90 minutes after I made the purchase) - Amazon cancelled the gift card to Electbase, and gave me a full refund.

Damn lucky !!!

So at midnight Thursday May 17, 2012 Pacific time - I got an email from Electbase stating my order was accepted

And midnight Friday May 18, 2012 Pacific time - I got another email from Electbase stating my order had been shipped - but at no time was a tracking number provided -nor any Telephone number provided.

I decided to play along, and sent [email protected] a request for UPS tracking number for my order.

I never got a reply.

Refunds from Amazon always take 3-4 business days, so I was sweating a bit last weekend, hoping that Amazon had actually successfully cancelled the gift card, and that a full refund would soon appear on my bank statement.

Finally on Tuesday May 22, 2012 - a full refund appeared at my bank from Amazon. and so I ordered a refurbished iMac27" direct from Apple. (great machine BTW!)

On May 23, 2012 was the due date for my Lenovo W530 order from Electbase.com - for a brief moment I contemplated what course of action i would do if this actually showed up at my house.

Of course it never arrived, and electbase.com never acknowledged a possible problem with my order.

On May 24, 2012 - this is the first day i began to read the first negative reviews of the reality of the Electbase.com scam and I was glad I acted fast with Amazon Customer support, as my "hunch" prooved to be accurate. It was also the day my new iMac arrived from Apple.com - extremely happy with that outfit!
