I was having PC problems so I went to the microsoft.com site. Mytechgurus, Inc. site became available. It worked just like a couple of tech sites that I have used before. I typed in my complaint of me getting a message from mircosoft that Winrscmde stopped working and was closed. I had a difficult time getting my PC to turn on and then several mins. to get my internet to work. I was turned over to a "tech" who called himself Winfred. (He logged into some site with Ruben22). They offered me a 1 yr package to help take care of my problems for $129 or a 2 yr package for $229 with a promise that my PC would be fixed and working 'like new'. I was also told that a short cut would be developed to help me keep the PC working and if there was a problem all I had to do was click a button and they would be there to help me.
When I finally decided to purchase the 1 time fix for $99, this price was a discount because we were negotiating on the price. The 1 yr price of $129 was all of a sudden going to cost me $209. I asked him why the 1 yr package quoke was $209 now and it was $129 just a short time back. That is when he gave the quote of $99 and "dumb" me fell for it.
I was then turned over to 'Richard' who told me he would fix my computer while I watched (he took over my computer like I have done before.), I saw him bring up back memories, all kinds of files I didn't know existed. It took about an hour more and then he was all done.
I knew something was wrong when I was given that same little message that he was supposed to have fixed. This morning when I came back to "test" my perfect PC, it acted the same way as before. That is when by researching I found you guys.
I did take a few notes as they were working. I saw a Log me in. rescue at the top of one of the sites they were using. A phone number was on screen 1-866-231-2864. To tell the truth I haven't called it yet, I am afraid that I have been scammed and just don't want to know it yet. My reference # is 135371284.
Richard used CCleaner.com v3.13.1600, then went to Piriform. He used the ccleaner to clean up the registry, tools, and other options. When the analysis was complete he "run cleaner and removed 4,762Mb. Then he deleted that data.
He also used system configure. Prefetch folder. I was told if I needed help to just run the shortcut and follow instructions. He had typed in MTG tech help desk for any help.
I am not sure whether I literally closed our session or he did. I really did not hear from him any more. The $99 according to my bank account was for My Tech Gurus.
