The Archives.com website offers a free 7-day trial membership to search for records. I joined, search for a record, did not find any and promptly (within the hour) cancelled the membership and removed my credit card information from the Account section. Seven days later, I was charged $39.95. I sent them an email complaining since there is no phone number listed. No response. I sent a second email. Then I searched for Archives.com and found this site with all the complaints against them. I also found their (800) phone number. I called, spoke to a rep and asked them to refund the unauthorized charge. He asked if I had received a cancellation email confirmation. I had not. He began to state that I now had the 1-year membership. I threatened him stating I would file complaints and make a stink. He agreed to refund the charge and sent me an email confirmation confirming the cancellation. Let's see if in the next few days my money is refunded.
