I am a person on SSDI with COPD. I was prescribed by my doctor to have oxygen from a company called Medical Decission LLC Ft Lauderdale. (954-772-1631) my limited income has forced me to return the compressor at which time I requested and received a refund for the $100 monthly charge.
To my amazement, two days later I noticed the charge again in my bank statement. I called and spoke with Claudia, who assured me that the charge would be reversed. It was not. I called again and informed her that this charge would directly impact my food purchasing for the month. Aside from being very indignant and rude she told me I should apply for food stamps and or Medicaid and that this was not her problem.
The humility and shame that poured over me at that moment were uncontrollable as I began to cry, she told me that she would have her supervisor contact me and confirmed my telephone number. No one called that day or the next.
I called back the second day after and asked for Claudia again, she said that her supervisor would reverse the charge. Not three minutes later she called me to inform me that they were not reversing the charge due to the original draft which was returned from my bank, and that I should be happy they weren't charging those fees to my account (as they do have my debit card information). I have traced my checking account for this overdraft, which does NOT exist, so they lied about that.
MY last call to them this morning was quite heated I must admit (on both sides) I told her I was sure her company wouldn't go broke without my $ 100, but I would suffer the month without food, again she stated in a very degradative tone it wasn't her problem.
My bank statements verify all of which I have stated. They never attempted a draft which they claim was returned. They debited, credited then debited again. Is there anything that can be done so that they don't pray on sick elderly people such as myself who don't have the means to complain to someone?
