To anyone wondering, it says right in their terms & conditions, so no one got scammed, you all just didn't read the fine print.....I do agree that this is a pretty low tactic and totally ethically and morally wrong though:

"9. Virtual Cupids: JDI Dating Ltd encourages Account development and promotes user, Member and/or Subscriber communications through our Virtual Cupid (VC) services. By accepting these Terms, all users, Members and/or Subscribers fully understand, accept and agree to the deployment of this service, and acknowledge that some of the profiles and Members displayed to them may be fabricated to promote user, Member and/or Subscriber activity and participation in all the Services. The VC services may include the posting of information, pictures and communication to the user, Member and/or Subscriber's profile. The deployment of our VC services is to facilitate Account development, increase the user, Member and/or Subscribers experience, network analysis, quality control and/or ensure conformity to these Terms. The VC service is used to provide analysis, feedback, trends, patterns, social commentary and information in the aggregate and aides in the process of monitoring our system for compliance with our operating standards.

By accepting these Terms you further acknowledge and agree that any information or pictures displayed to you via a VC's profile does not relate to an actual person but has been provided for the above mentioned purposes. You understand, acknowledge, and agree that any involvement or communication with our VC shall be monitored to administrate conformity to these Terms. We also reserve the right to utilize VCs within the Website's services at present and in the future."
