Difficulty navigating SPM membership and subscription cancellations online, not sure I had really managed to cancel the subscription. Later contacted Cust. Serv. @ People Media (866)727-8920 to speak to a rep to confirm SPM cancellations. (I WANT CONFIRMATION IN WRITING to guarantee I won't be billed, or at least provide evidence of cancellation to my credit card provider in the event I am billed.) I did this (initially) two weeks into a month's regular-priced subscription because I was dissatisfied with the site, as well as increasingly suspicious of 'flirt' messages. There's no depth to these ultra-brief messages, the majority of which I suspect are automated and not of any interest to me anyway. The calibre of response, when I got one, was moronic. Having said that, my real complaint has to do with getting CONFIRMATION OF MEMBERSHIP AND SUBSCRIPTION CANCELLATIONS via email. Online Customer Care -- if you can call it that -- generates automated replies that have nothing to do with the query. And despite cancellation on both counts, my junk mail folder continues to receive these annoying flirt messages, which I've also attempted to cancel (for a month now). Three calls to PeopleMedia at the above # -- with CC rep assurances that I'll receive follow-up confirmation -- have garnered no results: no cancellation/membership cancellation confirmation; no confirmation that they'll stop sending emails. Caveat emptor really is the lesson to be learned. My advice is to research by going onto helpful sites like this one before providing credit card info to online sites, no matter what they're selling.
