I had just gotten my son sat down for lunch and happened to look out the front door and there was a young lady on my front step, I went to the door and she introduced herself as Sarah. She was talking extremely fast and was trying to be very young and hip, complementing me on how well I age and if I was queen of the castle and every other thing. Talking about this point system and how she could go to Europe if she won. She then presumed that I was ordering and asked if I had a table she could write on, so I invited her in. I should mention I am not feeling well today and am on medicine, typically I spot a scam a mile away. She was very nice and playful with my child. I was trying to wiggle out of this by saying I have no cash and my checkbook was in my bfs car. She then went on to tell me that she'd earn even more points if we went to the ATM and got cash out! Like she wanted to ride with me. I then felt like something was awry, do I began asking her questions to which she very quickly answered with what seemed to be legit answers. She went on to tell me I could get all these discounts on books since I have a child and am not married. I got my checkbook out of my car and thought to myself, well if this was a scam why would she be so informed and so normal?! After finding out the priced of the books I wanted to say no thanks but felt pressured by hearing her story her mother had been diagnosed with cancer and her father had just been diagnosed, it seemed like everything I said she had a similar situation. I wrote her a check for 55$ under the impression I'd receive 12 books over the course of a year. She placed a stucker on my door so no one else would come by and try to sell me anything.Almost immediately after writing the check I felt scammed. Like I said before I can usually spot them. She asked where she should go next and I pointed her down the block, I went in the backyard and saw shed gone the opposite way and then someone picked her up. I didn't hesitate, I got on the phone with my bank and froze my account and opened a new one. She will not be getting any money from me!! I feel like such a fool!
