Frequently Asked Questions
General Questions
What are my chances for a resolution?
Tough question. This depends on a few things. First, what do you consider a successful resolution? We encourage our users to post a complaint that is as accurate and detailed as possible, with a clear understanding of what resolution our user expects. As part of your complaint, be sure to submit as much evidence as possible to substantiate what you've written. For Scambook Premium Members, Scambook will attempt to contact the persons or business the complaint is against in order in hopes to start the resolution process. As a registered member, you have the ability to help others find justice! This can be done by simply commenting on their complaints and/or sharing your story of a similar experience. Scambook does not tolerate any false reports or allow any form of defamation, slander, or libel. You can be held liable for what you post on the website if the person you complain against proves your post is false or otherwise defamatory.
Does Scambook resolve my disputes?
Scambook provides a platform for users to voice their concerns and to tell others about possible scams, frauds, and companies engaged in bad business practices. For Premium Support Members, Scambook will attempt to contact the person or business in dispute in hopes to begin the resolution process and will keep your post updated as progress is made. Scambook also allows businesses to respond, refute, or take steps necessary to resolve alleged complaints. Scambook also provides an opportunity to have complaints reviewed pursuant to an Expedited Arbitration Program which is designed to have an outside arbitrator review facts provided by both sides. If the arbitrator determines that a user's complaint is not factually accurate, an arbitrator may determine to redact a complaint or, in certain circumstances, may determine the entire post should be removed.

Can Scambook help me take legal action against the business that scammed me?
Scambook's primary purpose is to serve as a complaint resolution platform for users to voice their concerns over possible scams, frauds, and companies engaged in bad business practices, by sharing their experiences with others, while allowing businesses a chance to potentially resolve such complaints.

What is Scambook?
Scambook is a website for users to voice their concerns against possible scammers, fraudsters, and companies engaged in bad business practices, by sharing their experiences via the Scambook website. Equally, our goal is to provide businesses an avenue to resolve their alleged disputes with customers.
Complaint Questions
How can I get the name or IP address of someone who posted about me?
Scambook does not voluntarily release its users name, address or IP address information to anyone unless mandated by a court order.
How can I remove a post about me or my company?
Generally, Scambook does NOT edit or remove posts unless directed by a court order to do so.
Our goal at Scambook is to give users a place to voice their concerns against possible scams, fraud, and companies engaged in bad business practices, by sharing their experiences via the Scambook website.
If you believe a post about you or your company is false, inaccurate, illegal, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable, and you want the content redacted or removed, there are different avenues to attempt this.
Because Scambook has no way of knowing who is "right" or "wrong", (Indeed, both parties may be "right" or "wrong" depending on your point of view), our position is that we do not simply remove a post when the person complained against claims it is false.
If the original Author of a post wants the content of his or her post removed, they must email [email protected] directly from the email address they created their Scambook account with. Their email should include a PDF attachment of a notarized document proving they are the author of the post. Please note, there is a $250 fee (per webpage) for each takedown request for Web Server and Maintenance services rendered. This fee can be paid to [email protected] via PayPal.
There may be instances where a post is inaccurate and the author of the post does not respond to your request to edit or remove his/her post.
In these instances, while you have the right to file a lawsuit against the author of a post, litigation is usually quite expensive and time consuming. We have created a more efficient and expeditious way to help possibly resolve these issues with the Scambook Expedited Arbitration Program. For more information, please click here or email: [email protected]
Why did Scambook edit or delete my post?
We've created this site for users to voice their concerns, so we usually will not interfere with user posts. However, Scambook is an interactive website that allows for content to be edited and/or removed by Scambook employees under the guidelines of section 230 of the Communications Decency Act (Telecommunications Act of 1996), 47 U.S.C. Section 230. Posts deemed as defamatory, threatening, offensive, inaccurate, illegal, irrelevant, or otherwise unrelated to the mission of Scambook, can be removed or redacted.
Will the content of my complaint affect my chances for resolution?
Remember to be as accurate as possible and to provide as much detail as you can. Once your complaint has been posted, be sure to submit as much evidence to support your complaint.
As a registered member, you have the ability to help others find justice! This can be done by simply commenting on their complaints and/or sharing your story of a similar experience.
Scambook does not tolerate any false reports or allow any form of defamation, slander, or libel. You will be held liable for what you post on the website.
How do I delete my complaint?
Complaint Posts are final and cannot be edited or deleted by the user. Our system does this to preserve the accuracy and integrity of it's users and their posts.
However, there is a 'follow-up' function on your Scambook Dashboard. Your updates will appear directly underneath your original complaint so, please post any updates, additional information, or clarifications you would like to make by making a follow up.
I filed a complaint, what are the next steps?
For additional support from other Scambook users, please post your complaints and questions on the Scambook complaint board here : https://www.scambook.com/report/submit
Your complaint and response will be added to a file with other similar complaints and you will be notified if further movement is made in the investigation.
After your complaint is submitted to Scambook.com, you may consider filing a complaint with your State Attorney General's office. You can find more information on your Attorney General's office at: www.scambook.com/blog/2011/07/state-attorney-general-report-a-scam/
The Federal Trade Commission, the nation's consumer protection agency, also collects complaints about companies, business practices, and identity theft under the FTC ACT and other laws. You can file a complaint with the FTC by clicking here: http//:www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov
Thank you for posting on Scambook and be sure to check back and comment on similar posts so you can share your experiences with others.
Will every complaint I submit be resolved?
The success rate of complaint resolutions vary from case to case and depends on what you consider a successful resolution.
How long do I wait for a refund after I submit my complaint?
With Premium Support, Scambook will help assist in the resolution process. However, the outcome largely depends on the response time and cooperation of the business you have submitted a complaint against. Rest assured, Scambook is working hard to research and follow up on complaints submitted by our premium members. Please note, although we may potentially be able to assist Scambook users in finding resolution, we are unable to promise that everyone will get their money back.
