I paid the $50 to have an agent prepare my application (completely happy with this arrangement). This was after I read the FAQ that said:
"Are there additional fees?
There are no extra charges for participating in the American Green Card Lottery Program, aside from the fee for using the on-line registration."
When I received a phone call I got the usual sales pitch, saying I'm almost there I just need to make a discounted payment of $2000 (discounted from $4000 because I was a high achiever). This I see as false advertising and I'm gutted. I hope my credit card does not get charged any further.
