There Should Be a Law
We have been using GreenDot Money cards For several Years To Accept Payment for Advertising as well
as pay bills and purchase good and services. We were among the biggest supporters of this method of payment because it was cheaper than Western Union or MoneyGram...
When we registered our card we were told was that the maximum we could load was $2500.00 per day, no problem
We recently instituted our Spring sales campaign which was reasonably successful our client were urged to pay via green dot money pack..
We were at lunch on Friday and attempted to pay our check when were advised that our card had been declined.
This had to be some kind of mistake..after trying for a couple of hours to navigate through the maze of recrded messages we finally got alive person on the line who advised us that.Our account had been flagged and blocked due to suspicious activity.seems as though they keep track of where the packs are purchased and the fact that we had packs loaded on our card that were purchased in Florida,California Texas Mississippi and Tennessee..and that was deemed SUSPICIOUS.so they blocked the card and cancelled our account. After stern protest we were able to go to an ATM and receive the balance of our funds but the entire episode seemed a bit shady to me.
So we did a little more investigation and we found the case of disabled veteran who's truck broke down and he called his children to send money for repairs..after a number of reloads were loaded on his card his account was frozen and closed same as ours..But he was a bit worse his VA check which was loaded on his card would now be sent back to the treasury department and he is lost in a sea of bureaucratic red tape
can;'t pay rent can't buy food...This is a disgrace if you think so please send a letter to the senate baking committee at.
