Online purchase of driver updater. Was given a phone number to activate program. Allowed representative to remotely access my computer. They ran a scan and then tried to upsell me to repair all of the "corrupted" files on my computer for $399.00.
When I declined the service, suddenly my internet connection became corrupted and would no longer activate. The woman on the phone stated it was a problem with my computer and hung up.
I called back and spoke with another rep regarding the situation with my computer. She stated that she would be able to remotely repair the problem but it would cost $399.00 I refused to pay stating that the person who had remotely accessed my computer or the program that I downloaded caused my internet connection to become corrupted.
She stated she could reduce the price to $199.00. Again I refused to consent to pay this amount indicating that the problem stemmed from their end. She stated that since I was refusing to pay there was nothing more she could do and hung up.
I went into system restore and reset my computer and everything worked fine again.
I am currently trying to get my money back through Paypal.
