I was notified by a collections company that I owed Countrywide over $500 for my account that went delinquent in April 2011. I found this weird because it has been over 3 years for them to contact me so I reported them to the BBB. While waiting for correspondence from the company and the BBB, I had made arrangements with the collections company so it would not mess up my credit. I made one payment of $138.65 (paid before I filed my complaint with the BBB) and called to make a second payment (after the complaint was filed with the BBB) and the account had been paid in full and I did not owe anything else. In the final response from the company through the BBB, Countrywide stated that they never turned me into a collections agency and my account did not go delinquent until July 2012. After they sent me that lie, I reported them to the Federal Trade Commission and the Attorney General's Office. I do have documentation proving that I was turned into a collections agency.
