In July of 2012, I ordered a new lamp for my DLP tv. I didn't need it at that time but I like to have a replacement lamp on hand when the old one goes out. In March, the old lamp went out and I tried unsuccessfully to insert the new lamp. I've never had a problem doing this previously. The lamp would not slide in. I ended up having to call a repairman to assist me. This charge was $89.00. Upon looking over the lamp he discovered that one side of the housing was curved, rendering the lamp useless. Luckily, he had the type I needed on his truck and I bought it and had him install it. I then boxed up the defective lamp and sent it back to Mitsubishi with a letter of explanation and the original invoice from them, plus the invoice from the repairman. I received no answer. On or about June 4th, I called their 800 number and spoke with a woman at Mitsubishi, who told me I probably sent the lamp to the wrong place and that I was supposed to obtain an authorization number. She said they didn't have my lamp or my accompanying correspondence at their facility. They also asked if I had gotten a tracking number from the postal service when I sent the lamp back. After all that time, no, I didn't have it anymore. I wish to also add that upon perusing their website there is no information I could find regarding authorization codes, returning merchandise, or complaints. I spent an extra $318.00, not to mention the $229.00 I had to pay the repairman for the new lamp he sold me.
