Complaint 14998 Details

The club falsly advertized in a 2009 ad that I could purchase 4 books in order to join the club, I ordered the books, all the ones I picked were on sale so I thought it was a great way to join while unaware of what awaited 2 years later. In May of 2011, out of the blue I get a bill in the mail stating that I have to fulfill my obligation of purchasing 4 more books, each one has to be above $20.00, otherwise my credit card on file with them would be charged for the amount if I don't elect my books (?) What the hell? Talk about a TOTAL SCAM- especially that I paid for the first 4 books in 2009 (I have record of credit card statement+ receitps to prove it) and thought oh I'll keep this membership in case I want to buy books later, I should have NEVER done business with them from the start. Either way, no consumer should be this blindsided out of the blue and told their credit card is going to be charged in a bully manner by the vendor. They suck at record-keeping since they claim they don't keep your invoice in their system longer than 6 months or so- nice try! Too bad for them that I keep my invoices forever just to guard my name from this type of theivery.
