  • There are two ways to get credits for the misleading and fraudulent "work at home" schemes. The first thing you must do is contact customer service at these companies on their web sites, asking them to cancel your account and refund the amounts charged. If you can't find a customer service link on the site, you may have to dig around in the footer of the main web page to find some way of contacting them.

Second, if you get nowhere in dealing with the company, go to your bank (obviously with your Mom) and speak to a banking officer about the misleading and fraudulent claims made by these companies and their unwillingness to help you. In most cases, if you raise the complaint within 90 days, the bank will at first temporarily reverse the charges (challenging the charge) and await a response from the offending company. After another 30 days or so, the bank almost never hears from the company, and your temporary credit will become permanent.

And learn a lesson through all of this... there are many, many people and sham organizations just waiting for you to buy into their lies. Typically, if it seems like their claims are the answer to your prayers of quick income, they are fraud artists. Don't do it again.

If you haven't yet told your Mom what you did, now is the time to be a responsible adult and inform her.
