I recieved a check with a letter saying I had won a sweepstakes and was entitled to 150,000 dollars from a total prize of 3 million us dollars that was shared and presented among 20 declared winners. I had to call a number (1-289-892-2418) and speak to a MR. CHARLES BAY to activate the check before I could cash it, and then I had to pay a tax of 1,995 dollars and I would recieve the rest of the money later. The promotion managers name was BRIAN MCFARLEN. This is a scam, I looked up the telephone number to the actual company that supposedly issued the check to me and they said it was a fraudulent check and gave me the website used by the FBI to report this type of crime...its www.ic3.gov DO NOT CASH THIS CHECK...IT IS JUST TO GET YOUR BANK ACCOUNT INFORMATION TO DRAIN YOU! If the company is named differently I suggest looking up the company on the internet and getting the phone number and contacting them directly because if they supposedly issued you the check and it was real they would have it documented in some kind of check book system file! According to the banks you will not recieve a letter from any sweepstakes prize. And they definitely would make you pay your own taxes on the winnings not out of your check. Please research and look into things like this before sending any money.
