The cause for this issue is the following:
1. I received a call from this merchant posing as another (Strathmore’s Who’s Who) that I had been in contact with asking if I would like to register for the service to which I had offered my billing information.
2. Within 15 minutes of the service being offered I called back with a suspicion that this was a ruse and asked for a detailed description of the service being offered again where Al Miller, the representative at extension 122 (347 381 3748) had changed his story. He had also dropped the wrong company name which made me concerned. During this call I asked that the transaction be canceled and the charge not be placed on my account. Al replied that he would check with shipping (this is obviously not needed since it was a service, not a product) and hung up on me. I called back, told him not to hang up on me and said I would wait on the phone while he canceled the transaction. He described that he would check with his manager and hung up on me again.
3. I called American Express to change my credit card number but it was too late, the order had been put through when he and I were on the phone.
4. The company is registered as Princeton Global Network; yet the registered industry is furniture (perhaps why he immediately reacted with “let me check with shipping”)
5. I have also filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau
