My computer reported a 1327 error while trying to update a driver. After searching the web for answers, I kept getting directed to SpeedyPC Pro's ads (ParetoLogic is the company name). They claimed their software would fix my problem. Although skeptical as well as desperate, I proceeded with the "free" download and ran the program which identified over 1400 problems on my computer, which other than the 1327 error was running perfectly. As expected, when I clicked the "fix all" button, I was directed to their website to pay $29.99, which I reluctantly paid. Next, I was given a phone number to call to activate the software. A "technician" took control of my computer and entered the "secret key" to activate the software. Then (still on the phone) the technician started browsing around my computer and displayed my list of Services. He tried to tell me that the services marked "stopped" were probably viruses. Realizing I was being scammed I told him I was a college computer science professor and he immediately hung up. I'm sure he was setting me up to purchase some other useless software. By the way, the original problem still existed after running SpeedyPC Pro. As a matter of fact, nothing has changed at all so I'm wondering whether it actually does anything or just looks like it is running.
