I'm a college student who looking for a job on craglists. I came across a job posting Entry Level - Manager Trainee, So I'd apply for it! Right the next day, someone called me for an interview. I came with a resume, cover letter, and reference sheet for the interview. The administrative assistant in front give me a sheet to fill out, I've notice there was nothing related to manager professional questions. One of the questions was "Am I a happy person?" Okay, what kind question is that? I stay positive & confident for the interview. Then, they took me to a conference room & should me a video about "Why America Burn". I've noticed there was almost 4 candidates who being interview back to back. Finally, it was my turn to be interview with the office manager. Who look through my resume & pretend ask me random questions. He stated that I don't have manager background, but have alot customer service skills. That they are welling to train me for a manager position that will paid $4000 per month. All of sudden, He said Congrats! We would like you to work for us! At the moment, I was happy to hear the good news, but wonder why was it so easy to get hired for this job. While I can't even get hired for a fast food place. Then he pull out a U.S. Safety registration forms & ask for $75 fee. I ask him will the company pay for it, he said No! The company will pay for the $300 training course, & I will only required $99 deposit for the kit fee which is refundable upon reaching a management position. On my way driving home, I was skeptical about everything that just happen. It was interesting that I didn't even take any test for manager position. Normally any job require some kind test to measure your skills. As soon I got home, I read the registration form & happen to read the back side, it said "The following words are part of your contract." The further I read, it stated "you are an independent contractor! You will required to sell a minimum of $2000 to $5000" Training is offered on a voluntary basis, nor will you be compensated for attending training sessions. They are trying to recruit people to sell safety products, & offer no office manager. I called the bank to stop the check right away! Called the office back & let them know what they did is wrong! My suggestion to all, I've learn from this interview. Be cautious if any sounds to good to be true & never pay upfront fee for any jobs! Hope this help!!

  • I can tell you this complaint is legitimate. Tony York and Lisa Bournazos have been running this type of scam for years. I got suckered into it when I was 19 years old (back in 1996). From people's complaints I see it hasn't changed much. A $60 "registration/background check" fee, a $95 "kit" fee just to get started. Then they tell you in order to advance you have to sell $2000 worth of product. After you sell that in order to advance further you have to sell another $3500 worth of product. I actually became an office manager and I can tell you this is 100% a pyramid scheme. And as far as the $4k a month in the ad?...this job is 100% commission based, even as a manager. As a manager you get paid a percentage of the $75 fee, the $95 fee, and sales that your "management trainees" make. The more people you hire (who pay the $75 and $95 fee) the more money you make; if that's not MLM/pyramid, I don't know what is.
