A girl showed up at the door claiming she was selling magazines and books to get points to go to Italy and make $ for MADD. She was a communications major and only needed a couple more sells to get her trip to Italy. She showed me a laminated badge and opened her book full of cash and checks. Since it was dinner time and I needed to feed my 4 year old I was trying to finish this fast. I agreed to buy two kids books that were similar to ones my kid already had. They go for about $10 new. The price came up to $151 and I was told they should arrive within 120 days. I was in so much shock I didn't know what to say and let her walk off with my check. I went inside and googled MTS circulation. All I found was them listed as scams. I went outside about 10 minutes later and found her 5 doors down and gave her back her receipt and asked for my check back. She told me that she had already contacted her distributor for my purchase and she would have to pay the $151 out of pocket if she gave it back and refused to return the check. I pulled out my cell and said we'll let the cops figure this out. She said all they would do is tell her to stop soliciting and stood her ground. I dialed the number and at the last second she gave me the check then started cussing at me and calling me names. Then she wanted to use my phone to call her boss to explain (she needed my phone to call him but somehow had already put in the order with no phone) and I told her no she couldn't use my phone. A few minutes later she showed up at my door crying that this would cost her the $151 because I canceled on the order and demanded my number so her boss could call me. Then she went on to tell me that all these complaints on the net was from other people and not her or her company. Total scam!
