Without knowingly authorizing anything and without offering any services in exchange, TLG Privacy Guard has been charging me $12.99 a month since November of 2010. I didn't realize that until today, February 18, 2012, $207.84 in charges later. I haven't ever received an email, phone call, or mail from them. I tried to look my account up on their website, and my account doesn't exist, which helps prove I am not receiving any services.
It seems others have been scammed as well: http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/2005/trilegiant_inside.html and http://www.consumeraffairs.com/privacy/privacyguard.html. There is a suit against them that is ongoing in Connecticut. Here are their terms of use, which claim that on a monthly basis, communications are sent to subscribing customers, ("If no information has been added or changed, then the member will receive a monthly notification stating that no information has changed within their credit file").
