Mr. Mercer had a posting on Craigslist for a 2009 Vermeer BC600XL wood chipper listed for 2900.00 in the Charlotte NC area. I sent him an email ([email protected]) asking if that was the lowest he would take for it. He responded and said he was in the USMC and he was currently stationed in Wyoming where he stated the chipper was located. He said he would take 2450.00 for the chipper and it would be shipped by a military carrier free of charge to me. I received an email from Google checkout requesting I sent the money via Western Union to Spain to their agent and they would hold the money until I received the chipper. Right after, I recevied an email from Mr. Mercer saying he was going to be shipped to Spain and could I sent the money to the agent there for 2,450.00 plus 126.00 to send it. I really should have thought this through but I sent the money to the agent in Spain on February 10, 2012. I notified the Google checkout that I had sent the money and they requested to see a copy of the receipt which I sent to them. They said the shipping process would begin soon there after. The next day I received an email from Google checkout stating they needed an addtional 1500.00 from me that would be refunded for insurance for shipping. I notified Mr. Mercer about this sudden change and he responded that it was a new thing through google and he had paid his 1500.00 and he expected me to pay 1500.00 also. I did not send anymore money, but I did email the Google Checkout and Mr. Mercer that I wanted a refund or the chipper and that I would be unable to send any additional money to them. I have yet to hear from either place and I know now that both are fake. I don't know if anything can be done about this and it was a big error on my part for sending them any money through Western Union, but I hope that he can be stopped from furthering scamming other innocent people.
