I opened an account through ebay/paypal. Paypal is associated with Bill Me Later. When you make a purchase it says use Bill Me Later for purchases of $99 or more with 6 months to pay and no interest or late fees. I made purchases of $104 in December. In January they called me and said I was later with my payment and charged me a late fee. I told them all my purchases said 6 months to pay. They said the purchases didn't qualify but they would investigate. They still did not fix it. They said it had to be one purchase of $99. I ask them if that was true then why did the first purchase I made of $30.68 was deferred. No where in their terms and disclosures does it say it has to be one purchase of $99.00. This is a rip off. I have done a lot of checking and it seems this is the practices they use on everyone. This is a scam and they need to be shut down.

  • This company does need to be shutdown. It's not a coincidence that you not only find numerous complaints about this company on consumer feedback sites, but the complaints are almost all of the same nature. They fluster you and hold you hostage with your credit score but if Deceptive Trade Practice and Collection Laws were ever to be enforced this would the model company to charge. I have only seen class action suit brought against them in California for manipulating usary laws, but they need to be indicted on a Federal level and cease to exist. I have written down in detail exactly how their plan is executed and it's apparent that how they pull off their deception is by design and done with the intent to deceive. It's actually very much like a magic trick in that it's difficult to figure out how you, the ever vigilant consumer, got the proverbial wool pull over your eyes but once you get past being angry, flustered, etc. it's much more clear as to how simple their scheme is. I am not sure why they haven't been the target of a criminal investigation on a State or Federal level, but I think that most people who have been victimized are so fed up that once they have settled with the company (which they should not do) they have been no more energy or desire to pursue the matter any further. It's going to take a collective effort of people bypassing the fee seeking lawyer fueled class action path and making it known to the Attorney General at the State and Federal levels. That is not easily done.
