I noticed a charge on my AT&T cell phone bill for special data services that I had not requested. After calling AT&T they informed me that a company named Bullroarer had charged me for services. After investigating further, I connected that this company had text spammed me 4 messages that had indicated that if I replied rates may apply. I did not reply nor did I solicit or subscribe to their text messages. Essentially this company obtained my cell phone number and started charging me $9.99 a month for 4 text messages that I never responded to or requested. If I had not been carefully reviewing my bill, then I would not have noticed. In my mind, this is no different than receiving spam email (that you ignore) and being asked to pay for for the spamming through your internet provider. Fortunately, AT&T refunded me the loss, but that does not correct Bullroarer's shifty, scam artist business practices. I will be reporting Bullroarer to the appropriate authorities--State, federal and local (if applicable).
