I got a call from a collections agency and never picked up. After googleing the number, I found a list of reports that were filed against the company because they were putting things on peoples credit that were out of statute or not accurate. At this point, I went to Equifax, and payed 10.50 for a credit report. It asked me some questions to verify my identity and i answered them all correctly. The system then told me that it "could not verify my identity online" and i had to call to get the process finished. I called and spoke to some Indian in Islambad, and she told me to call another number, which did not help at all. I then called Customer Service back and spoke to a Gentleman that i could barley understand.. He told me that i would have to send them a copy of my social, Drivers License and multiple other thing to prove i was myself. I told the rep that i was not going to do that and to cancel the charge.. He told me he could not cancel it so i made him aware that if it became an approved charge I would dispute it and he told me "absoloutley" like hes heard the line a million times. I called my bank and they could not stop it.. so as soon as i see the charge come off of pending i am going to dispute it. I debated asking for a supervisor while i was on the phone, but i was worried id get a camel.... Hope this helps anyone that TRYS to do business with Equifax and keeps them away from their greedy paws. This is not right to do to a consumer providing that they are trying to do something good for themselves.
