Someone identifying himself as our godson called early in the day that he would be coming to visit us with his family from Nogales, Sonora, Mexico. Later in the day, he called to tell us that he had been detained at a checkpoint and that they had found a gun in his car. He put the officer on the phone and the officer told us that he had found a gun in the seat of his car and he could go to prison for five years. He said that our godson had a check for $30,000 that he could cash in the United States but that he could let him go if he paid $3,000 and he could make the gun go away but that our godson only had $1,500 and that he needed $1,500 more. He identified himself as Marco Antonio Meza Hernandez and that we could go to Walmart and send him an express moneygram made out to Martha Isabel Moreno Nuno in Nogales, Sonora and that he would allow our godson to go so he could come and visit us and pay us. He was allowing this because our godson seemed like an honest person. The number that showed up on our phone was 333-749-7805. After sending the moneygram, I decided to call his mother and I spoke to him and I said "they released you". He didn't understand what I was saying and I realized at that time, we were scammed. I called Walmart and informed them that we had been scammed - they traced the moneygram and said it had been picked up at Tlaquepaque, Jalisco.
