My wife posted her resume yesterday on careerbuilder.com and shortly after she received a call from a Ms. Gomez. This lady asked my wife several questions including if she had any previous experience. The answer was NO and Gomez said that there's no problem. (ALREADY THAT SHOULD BE A SIGN) So she set an appointment for the very next day for an "interview." According to my wife; it was very brief and "fishy" with a lot of odd questions and a feeling of "this is too good to be true." (Trust your instinct) Ms. Gomez asked for the $100 application fee immediately.

Now here is the part where I got involved…. After the interview my wife called me and was very excited to have “Found a job.” So was I. But then I had to ask… Did they do a background check on you? She said yes but they DIDN’T ask for a social security number. (THAT’S ANOTHER SIGN) How can anyone run a check on you without your SS#? THEY CAN’T!!! After I realized that I went to their rinky dinky crappy little office on 49th street and immediately noticed how unprofessional EVERYTHING was. The employees are behind secured locked doors, bullet proof glass reception desk and a lady with a badge on her shirt and tattoos on her neck. Their clock on their wall said 9:30am when it was in fact 12:45pm. They had pictures, calendars and posters of the ARMY everywhere. (ANOTHER SIGN) What does this place have to do with the ARMY? NOTHING but it makes them “seem” legit.

I told the young lady at the front desk (not the one with the badge) that I didn’t come here for any trouble but we just want our $100 back and we’ll be on our way. This lady wasn’t rude and say “ok, there’s no problem, let me just inform my boss.” Not bad right? WRONG!!! Out comes the lady with the badge telling me to take and seat and “WAIT.” I said “NO, all you have to do is reach in the drawer and grab a $100 bill and place it in my hand. She said “it doesn’t work that way, I have to speak to my manager.” I asked how long does that take and her reply was “Whenever he decides to come down from upstairs.” I waited patiently for about 10 minutes and by then my frustration was at its highest level. I asked again but this time in a stronger tone. “Badge Lady” started locking her lips like she was about to curse me out and came out of the locked doors with the money and asked for the “contract” back. Because it didn’t have a ss# on it; I gave it to her. NOW out comes a tall black guy who is supposedly the manager from the locked doors and asked “what is the problem here?” I reply “This place is a scam and we just want our money back.” He replied “how about you step into my office and we’ll talk about it?” “What can you possibly tell me?” I asked. He then went ahead and told me to watch how I talk to him because he is an “Officer of the law.” I said “I don’t care who you are, plus I didn’t say anything wrong” The he changed it to “the watch your tone of voice, you have to respect me” NOW I’M FURIOUS. Everyone should know that you have your rights to speak as you please to an officer as long as you do not to curse or be offensive, which I was not.
When we took our money and started to walk away they kept on talking. (yeah, very professional) Now one of the ladies decided to say “this is a job placement agency, there’s never a guarantee in companies like this.” NOW THE TRUTH CAME OUT. But too late, you told my wife that she would have to pay them another $300+ for a class on a SUNDAY and will start working Monday. Hmmmmmm; that sounds like a guarantee right there. Plus, how is that possible? IT’S NOT!!!!! How about uniform, drug test, and everything else you SHOULD complete before you start working? Don’t you need a security license before you start? YES YOU DO, and to acquire one of those can take up to 3 weeks, not overnight.
PLEASE BE AWARE AND CAREFUL. Look at the signs but the following one is simple….. NO SOCIAL SECURITY = impossible to do a background check. No background check means NO OFFICIAL JOB.
