On 1/16/12 I was looking at trucks on the internet autofocuschicago.com which took me to recycler.com. I came accross an ad for a 2004 Ford F 150 Supercrew cab 4x4 for $2450.00. I was intrested to get more information so I emailed sharon at ([email protected]) to find more about the truck.
Sharon emailed me with a link to see more pictures. Sharon went on how the truck mileage was 67,935 and in excellent condition. The truck was very well maintained, no damage, no mechanical problems, no electrial issues, free and clear title no liens or loans, clean carfax, free of accidents. She stated also that she got the truck in her divorce settlement and she did not need it and did not have a drivers license therefore was looking to get rid of it as soon as possible. Sharon also stated in the email to send her my full name address and phone number if interested in puchasing the truck. She said she would notify eBay that I was her selected buyer and they would contact me to explain the entire procedure.
I went ahead and did send her the information.
The next day I received an email from Sharon that she got the info and sent it to eBay and they should contact me. Also she asked if I could her know when they contact me so that she will know this is a done deal. I emailed her back letting her know I was waiting on eBay also. On 1/17/12 11:45am I got the email form eBay. It was an invoice with a invoice #, case id, total amount, date and the instructions to send the payment using western union. The instructions were to send payment to the eBay Financing Center Agent: Michael Olson, 176 Lexington Ave, New York,NY,10016.
After following the instructions and sending the payment I emailed and faxed the mtcn#. I waited to get the confirmation the payment was recieved on 1/17/12 at 3:42 pm and was informed the seller would be notified to begin shipping. In the invoice it stated this could take up to 3 days and I would be sent a tracking # as soon as the shipping was set up.
On 1/19/12 I recieved an email from eBay about insurance during shipping. The email stated eBay vehicle Purchase Program cost was $2000.00 and needed to sent via western union in order for the truck to be shipped. eBay also stated that the money would be returned when I received the item.
This is when I began to question the whole situation. I called eBay and they told me there was no one on there employee list by the name Michael Olson and (Christi eBay rep.) also informed that eBay does not have a location in New York. Christi said it sounded like a scam to her and said that eBay had nothing to do with it. Christi said eBay would have no responsibility in this case. I have tried to contact eBay again with no success. I have moved on to inform western union fraud dept. they took my info. and told me to inform my local police. Western union rep Tony operator #459.
I have also informed my local police dept. again another response of take a report and turn it over to there investigations department.
I was told that I should contact western union again I told them western union said that the police should contact them. At that I have sinced searched over the internet for more advice as what other actions can be taken. I have tried to contact Sharon Dalton and eBay (Michael Olson) via email with no response 3 times. Now I am on my search to reach out to every outlet that deals with internet/online/fraud/scams to find some resolution to this. I have contacted in some way phone or email Sharon Dalton, eBay(Michael Olson), eBay, Western Union, Local police,IC3.gov,recycler,ftc.gov,and still in the process of others. I am hopeful that I will find some resolution.
