This actually happened in late November, 2011, but there seems to be no way to go back that far using calendar provided by Scambook. I made a terrible mistake in ordering a 14 day trial of Pura Silk without reading all of their terms & conditions first. After I attempted to cancel by phone, using the 800 number provided, I was told by the woman who answered the phone (did not even answer with the company name) that I agreed to the terms and conditions when I sent for the 14 day trial for "only" $4.95 . She advised me that in the terms and conditions, I had Legally authorized their company named Natural Health Network to charge my credit card up to $150.00 EACH month Unless I returned the 14 day trial product back to them with a Return Merchandise Number , another "gimmick" to take more time hoping I would also not be able to have it returned to their warehouse which is on the East Coast and I am on the West Coast! Their company also states in their terms & conditions that I authorize a "re-stocking" fee of about $20.00 for a $4.95 trial. But my credit card company had notified me the very next day after I had agreed to the trial of PuraSilk AND their terms & conditions, that there were two "suspicious" charges on my credit card: one for $25.87 and another one, dated the exact same day, of $89.99! I told the rep at my credit card co. that I did not authorize any charges above $4.95. She suggested I read ALL the terms& conditions which I then did! I was horrified after reading approx . 15 pages of legal terms, contract obligations, etc. that I had ignorantly and unwittingly authorized what was written in their terms etc . However, there is also a statement on their own Pura Silk website that says that if I do not absolutely LOVE their pruducts after using it for 14 days , then I could cancel "and not have to pay a dime." That sentence was what I needed in order to fight that company! Unfortunately, even though it was supposed to be a 14 day trial, nowhere was the word FREE! Big mistake! I immediately took action in every way possible . I kept phoning that SCAM of a company until I finally got a RMA which is very important to write all over the package in dark permanent ink in large letters and numbers and large letters and numbers and send it back ASAP from a US post office or UPS. Make sure you have a tracking number! Otherwise , that company will deny receiving the product back and it did cost me $15.50 but that was well worth it! When I checked on Scambook.com I read many other complaints against that company. They also add a product called "Phytology for which they charged me $19.99! Nowhere in their ad for Pura Silk was that product mentioned nor did it say I would be charged $19.99 for it! Because I did have a tracking number, I could prove that the package was received by their warehouse on the East Coast within the 14 day period. Amazingly and so thankfully to my quick mind and preserverence AND very good credit card company which said they would stand beside me 100% of my dispute against Natural Health Network (another way they try to confuse the new customer since I was asking my bank about any charges from Pura Silk and of course there were none . I also think they are a huge "umbrella" company for many products: same product sold under a different name with different "packaging." Since I did not even open the box, in order to save valuable time , I have no idea what the actual products of Pura Silk and/or Phytology look like .,And after reading complaints by other women I am so glad I did not use it as a
Facial cream! Please be aware that IF you do agree to their 14 day trial, please read the terms. & conditions Because You can be certain that company will start charging your credit card. And if you agreed to their Lifestyle or "Automatic" shipment program, they will begin charging you anywhere from $69.99 to $89.99 per month. Don't let them get away with this scam! Also be careful of any other skin care ads that pop-up without YOU asking for that specific product. I am still considering filing a claim with the Better Business Bureau here in
CA. In the meantime the best I can do is WARN others and hope they do not fall for this scam. But I have been keeping watch and it seems that company does continue SCAMMING people here in the US and in the U K and in Russia; and all over the world!
