Business Acumen initially contacted me in April, 2011, advising they would be able to get help for my trucking business--that I would be able to expand my business, which at that time, my husband had just gone into the hospital for his first of four heart attacks. I was looking for help and thought this would be the way to go. I initially paid $3,500.00 which they stated would help start the paperwork and help in contacting potential funding parties. In the meantime, they had me fill out a client profile and other documrnts which I filled out and sent back to them. I did not hear from them for @ one month and after I made several phone calls, did get Shelly to call me back and informed me that they were still waiting on some of their clienets who had "indicated interest in my business". Shelly told me that they would be getting back in touch with me with their results. On July 11, 2011, I received an "urgent" telephone call from a Rita Gleason with Business Acumen stating she had some "great news regarding my grant" -- she said I needed to contact her immediately. My husbnad was in the hospital at the time so I was not thinking very clearly--all I know is that she was very pushy andkept telling me that they had a person with $650,000.00 who was very interested in my company and they needed to know if I would meet the criteria. She said that I needed to wire $6,900.00 to her by the next day so that they knew I was serious about obtaining the grant to expand my company. I told her that I was not in any position to make that decision as my husband was seriously sick and in the hospital. She was very pushy and said that if I did, the "benefactor" would be advised of my intent and that Business Acumen would be preparing the paperwork they needed to submit to the funding party. On August 29, 2011, I received a "rough draft" of the 5-year business plan which Business Acumen asked me to review and to submit any changes to them immediately. I attempted to call and e-mail Business Acument many, many times after that, but received no response until the telephone was disconnected.

I filed a complaint through BBB of Southern Nevada, but Business Acumen did not respond to any of their notices.
