I was watching Oprah and decided to go on her website to enter the advertised sweepstakes from her show. I entered the sweepstakes and once I hit the send button, the response came back, "thank you for your subscription to the Oprah Magazine" I immediately got an email thanking me for my order and stating my magazine and bill was on the way. I tried to reply to the email and it came back with unable to send this message response. Since this was within minutes of me hitting the send button on the sweepstakes entry, I was able to hit my back button to see what was on the the sweepstake page when I entered. I read the whole page thoroughly and nowhere on the page said anything about buying a subscription. I saved this page and sent it to their customer service center buttttt before I hit send I filed a complaint with the BBB and attached that email with the BBB complaint number before I actually sent to Hearst. I received a response the next day saying they were canceling my order. So far I have not received a bill or mag. I received another email apologizing the day after that and it stated they were looking into there sweepstake process....... Clearly this is BAIT and SWITCH by HEARST Magazine.........they are the largest magazine business.... shame on them.... The reason I took drastic measures right away is because this happened to me before (Good Housekeeping) but when I received the magazine I didn't pay for it because I didn't order it. They sent me a couple of bills and I ignored them because I didn't order the magazine....they sent me to collections for $8.00. This was the result of me entering a sweepstakes also. I ended up paying after filing a complaint so sadly they got their money. I wasn't about to let that happen again. We have to fight back and file complaints.........
