Our US Government website for Medicare will list what Medicare Insurance plans are available for any given zip code.
A list of companies proving insurance pl;ans in a sated zip code is displayed but no actual premium quotes.. which requires you to click on company and submit your information on a form.. each company listed requires you to submit billing information to be used if you select that company's plan. Aetna then proceeds to auto bill a request and enroll you even though you did not authorize or even have contact with them .. I suspect there is a third party behind the scene that does that off Medicare's website. Without any contact or authorization, Aetna receives prospective applicant data and then enrolls a Medicare plan seeker automatically with ever confirming or quoting premiums etc. Medicare assumes no responsibility for such mishandling of data and refers one to their sate insurance department. Calls to Aetna are forwarded to an internal office that auto replies "we can't handle your service request." Thus, one is blocked from recovery of unauthorized billing and a dis-enrollment so it won't happen in future months. I am out $265.15 already and cannot recover, nor bar future such billings. All of my fellow Medicare recipients should be aware of corrupted the Government's website is and refrain from seeking plan quotes from it.
