I was approached by Mike after checking in for my Southwest flight at MDW in Chicago on May 8, 2019. Same story as others: cancelled flight, in town for a job interview, needed a hotel, etc. Being the trusting (and naive) person I am, I fell for it and he accompanied me to an airport ATM machine where I withdrew $300 cash. He hugged me and said he’d text me his contact info so I could follow up with him - which he did. The text said his name was Mike BRUOUBTZ (false info) and gave a legit Pittsbugh address on Driftwood Drive. Over the next couple of weeks we texted back and forth about him repaying me but he eventually said he was in the hospital (he even sent me a photo in a hospital bed) and that he had to concentrate on getting better so he couldn’t repay. I have a friend who’s a Private Investigator look into him and discovered that he’s a convicted con artist and gambler. I will be filing a report with the Chicago PD. The guy has real problems.
