I made a contractual agreement, and paid a Washington based general contractor named Scott Clyde Guthrie, a deposit on 11/20/17 to take down a maple tree in my yard for my grandmother. He agreed to show up the next day to begin work. When he did, he showed up alone, and offered to do the job for a hundred dollars off, if I paid everything up front. At this point, I became suspicious, and said I would think about it and give him my answer once everyone showed up for work. He came back later that evening, once again alone, and pretending to do work by spray painting a couple of useless X's on my Tree, so that the workers "knew where to cut the tree at". It was at this point that I told him I'd pay him in full once the job was done.

It's been 2 months now, and he has given me every excuse in the book as to why they couldn't begin work on any particular day. Initially, when he showed up the first time to diagnose the tree and offer me a quote, he conveyed absolutely no confidence, and gave the impression that he had ZERO knowledge on the subject of Tree's. He seemed entirely dishonest, and desperate for money. So about a month later, I ask for my money back, and that's when his responses to me stopped. From then on, he went entirely Ghost on me.

Be careful of this guy, he also pulled something similar on a Hotel owner in Arlington, and I'm not surprised. I should have listened to my gut about him, but he offered a rate far lower than anyone else, and I was desperate to save my grandmother some money. Stay FAR away, he is the definition of scum.
