I went to San Jose BMW on December 19, 2017 with my brother and his wife to try to talk to them about ordering a part for my motorcycle. First, when we walked into the shop, we were ignored by all three of the men who were working but just standing around talking.
Maybe it is there normal way of business to stand around and not ask if someone needs help when they walk in, but after someone stands at a counter for no less than five minutes, someone should ask them if they need help! Let me explain the whole situation.
I’m writing this review to let people know what kind of a scam I felt like I was being led to by one of the parts sales people at San Jose BMW. After waiting for about four minutes at the counter while three men stood around talking, I finally had to walk over to them to tell them we were there because I needed to see if they could order a part for me or if they might have one in stock that I could buy. The first guy who talked to me told me that if they needed to order a part, I could be looking at paying a 20% or 30% fee on top of the price of the part for delivery.
I wasn’t even sure why he told me that when he hadn’t even heard me say what the part was that I needed to find. My brother and I are Mexican by the way and my brother’s wife is Caucasian. It isn’t often, but every once in a while, we get some comments about where we are from and especially some rude ones when people see my brother’s wife with him. Thankfully, here in California, we don’t have to deal with things like that a lot, but every once in a while, we find someone who seems to be judgmental about things.
After the man told me I would have to pay extra for delivery, I asked him if he could check to see if they had a carb repair kit for my 2008 Kawasaki Ninja 250. I was also trying to get some NGK plugs. This parts guy had the nerve to ask me if I had someone who was going to put them on for me or who knew how to rebuild the carburetor for me. He then asked if the bike was mine or if was translating for my brother. I was like, seriously? This guy thinks my brother can’t speak English and that he has some chick asking for parts so he doesn’t have to do so himself.
I’m the rider in my family. Not my brother. I doubt he could even hold a bike up, much less take one down the freeway. Needless to say, I told the parts guy to forget it and that we would do business elsewhere. When we were walking out the door, I heard him tell one of the other guys that he hated it when ‘spics” came in because they were always wanting something for free.
I wanted to write a review so that other proud Mexicans like me and my family would know what this place is like. It’s a bunch of racist rednecks who just want to take advantage of people, scam people and treat them like garbage. If this review can help even one person see how these people are, then I will be happy.
