I signed up for a complimentary $2 1 year subscription to Real Simple magazine for completing a survey. I was informed I would receive notice before term ended & given choice of whether to continue at current rate for 1 year - if I did nothing subscription would automatically continue & I would be charged current rate. I never got such a notice & I was charged $35.
